| 5 things to know about passports/ID cards |
To issue a Swiss passport/ID card, you must submit an application online, make an appointment and come in person to have your biometric data captured. Make sure to have all required documents with you.
Here are 5 things to know about passports/ID cards:
- Swiss citizens living abroad may have their biometric data recorded at their Consulate, at other Swiss representations abroad or in Switzerland. Click here and learn more about the options.
- All persons granted an appointment must have in hand a valid proof of ID with photo (for example a passport, driving license, health insurance card).
- Payments may be made by cash ($CAD) or debit card (interac), credit cards are not accepted.
- You don’t need a photo or a birth certificate.
- For minors, both parents should be present at the appointment. If one parent is unable to come, he/she must complete a declaration of consent and hand it to the accompanying parent with a copy of his/her valid passport for the appointment. If a parent has sole legal custody, he/she must show an official document as proof.
| IMPORTANT |
If you wish to make an appointment for the biometric data capture in a place other than the Consulate General in Montreal, it is recommended to make a request at least 1-2 months prior to your desired date. |

example). However, the Swiss model or the
